The Mortal Instruments: City of Fallen Angels

Okay so this is going to be my first book review, I was going to do it another day but I thought this would be a good time to do it seeing as I finished the book today. This post will probably be a bit all over the place because I have never do this before so bare with me.

So overall I really enjoyed this book and towards the end found it very difficult to put down. I read a few reviews after reading and noticed that many people didn't like it as much I did and were giving it one out of five stars. In my opinion that's pretty harsh and although its not a five out of five book I feel that many people have taken the book to seriously.
This isn't a serious book that is meant to leave you questioning your life afterwards, its a light hearted book that is easy to read and enjoyable.Obviously its not going to be for everyone but if you enjoy the type of books with vampires, werewolves, demons, fairies the lot then this book is for you. It has everything and left me satisfied afterwards and needing to read the next book.
In terms of characters I feel that there where some good and bad points. In the last three books I have loved Jace as a character and have been wanting the romance between him and Clary to blossom, however in this book I found him quite irritating and needy. I felt like every conversation between Jace and Clary involved him saying that he didn't deserve her and that he's a monster and Clary simply responding with 'I love you Jace and only you blah blah blah.' To begin with it didn't really bother me but when it continued throughout the whole book it did become slightly boring. I did feel sorry for Jace because you could really see that he was suffering but in all honesty me wanting him to be helped was so that he would shut up complaining.
In terms of the other characters I was pretty happy, I can safely say that I still love Simon be it human or vampire, he made a few mistakes in this book but I just couldn't stop caring for him. A lot of the time I find myself forgetting that he is vampire just because of how helpless he can be but that's what I love about him. The whole way through I was routing for Simon and Isabelle to make up, they are just so cute together and a lot less annoying that Jace and Clary, sorry it has to be said.
There where a few characters that appeared in this book that kind of confused me such as Camille, Jordan and Lilith, it confused me that all three of these characters had never been mentioned before and it sort of felt like they where added to fill holes. Does that make sense? I don't know. For example at the start of the book it seemed like Camille was going to play quite a big role but by the end of the book I didn't really understand why she was in the book. I'm hoping that her story will carry on in the next book.
Overall I am pretty happy with this book and although there are a few things in the book that left me confused or wondering why, I am still happy with the book as a whole and feel that its not the type of book to be taken seriously like many other readers seem to have done.
Thanks for reading my review I hope you enjoyed it and comment below with what you thought.
